STEP 1
Measure The Overall Length Of The Garage Door Spring--UNWOUND.Take all your measurements from the broken spring. Measure the spring only from coil to coil. Do not include the winding and stationary ends.
STEP 2
Measure the Inside Diameter Of The your garage door Spring
It will be one of the following: 3 3/8" or 3 3/4"
STEP 3
Determine The Wire Size
Measure the length of 10 coils.
Refer to Wire Chart. Example: 10 coils measures 2 3/4" = .273 wire size.
Also Measure the length of 20 Coils
20 Coils measures 5 1/2"=.273 wire size.

STEP 4
Determine Spring Wind.
Standing inside the garage, looking at the spring(s)
If the spring is mounted Left side of center, the spring is Right Hand Wound.
If the spring is mounted on the right side of center the spring is Left Hand Wound.
Look at the end of your spring and refer to example below.
If you have 2 commercial garage door springs, we highly recommend that you replace both springs.
If your spring wire size does not match the spring chart above, please call for price.
