Product Description

Your garage door is made up of several components from the torsion springs to the railing and opener. The garage door cable doesn't lift the garage doors. There's a chain connected to the motor that does that. The torsion cable helps wind and unwind the torsion springs.

It's an integral part of the torsion spring mechanism and without it, the door won't open. Over time, the cable can wear out and eventually break. Even if it doesn't break, it's a good idea to install new ones if you're installing new garage door springs.

Why? You don't want an uneven wear and tear on your garage door torsion system. If you change the torsion springs, but not the cables, then in a few months you could be back because the cable broke.

It's important to be careful if changing the torsion cables. You may want to cut corners and not use proper tools, but this can be dangerous. You can save significant money by installing the cables and springs yourself, but only if you do it correctly and responsibly.
